For the first time in more than a century, the Gettysburg Foundation and the National Park Service will allow visitors to view the entire “Battle of Gettysburg” Cyclorama. A ceremony and three-day Grand Opening weekend, September 26-28, marks the opening the Cyclorama Gallery and the completion of the Museum and Visitor Center at Gettysburg National Military Park.

The “Battle of Gettysburg” Cyclorama is a massive circular painting, measuring 377 feet by 42 feet, is the largest painting in the United States. It was painted in 1883-1884 by Frenchman Paul Philippoteaux and a team of 20 artists. The painting serves as a monument to soldiers on both sides who took part in the Battle of Gettysburg.
